Uttar Pradesh has 88 medical colleges participating in NEET-UG counselling — 47 government, 41 private. Together they offer 9,778 MBBS seats across state quota and All India Quota rounds.
These colleges are in 61 cities. Lucknow has the most with 11, followed by Kanpur (3), Agra (3), Ghaziabad (3), Mathura (3).
The average intake per college is 111 seats. Ganesh Shanker Vidharthi Memorial Medical College has the largest intake at 250 seats with a 2,005-bed teaching hospital; Sri Rammurti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences has the smallest at 50. Combined hospital bed capacity across all colleges is 50,286, averaging 571 per institution.
Government colleges account for 3,828 seats (39% of total) while private and deemed institutions contribute 5,950. Candidates targeting lower fees should focus on government colleges, where competition is stiffer.
