What is OPEN (General/Open)?

General Merit (GM) in Karnataka NEET counselling refers to the unreserved category, open to all candidates irrespective of caste, religion, or community. Approximately 50% of state quota seats fall under GM after accounting for all reservation categories. These seats are filled strictly on NEET All India Rank merit. Any candidate, including those from reserved categories, can compete for GM seats. No caste certificate is required. GM is the most competitive category in Karnataka counselling, with the lowest closing ranks at top government medical colleges.
