Telangana lists documents for MBBS, BDS 2026 counselling, adds a route for students who studied outside the state
The Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Warangal, has issued a notice to candidates dated 23 July 2026 with the provisional list of documents for admission into MBBS and BDS courses under the Competent Authority Quota for 2026-27. The full admission notification, which opens the online application, will follow shortly. KNRUHS has asked candidates qualified in NEET UG 2026 to keep scanned copies of their original certificates ready so they can upload them as soon as the notification is out.
A new route for students who studied outside Telangana
The biggest change this year is a wider definition of a local candidate. A student who studied outside Telangana because a parent was posted out of the state can now still be treated as a local candidate. This follows Government Order G.O.Ms.No.150 dated 8 September 2025, issued after the Supreme Court order of 1 September 2025 that upheld the Telangana admission rules.
The route covers children of Telangana state government employees, of the Telangana cadre of the All India Services (IAS, IPS, IFS), of defence, ex-servicemen or Central Armed Police Force personnel who declared a Telangana hometown when they joined service, and of employees of a Telangana government corporation liable to be transferred anywhere in India. To claim it, the candidate produces a certificate of employment from the parent’s employer, covering the out-of-state posting for the years that match the study outside Telangana.
Documents every candidate must upload
Six documents are mandatory for all applicants:
- NEET UG 2026 score card
- Birth proof, taken from the SSC or 10th class marks memo
- Qualifying exam certificate, the Intermediate or 10+2 marks memo. A grade certificate is not accepted in its place
- Study certificates for 9th and 10th class
- Study certificates for the two years of Intermediate or equivalent
- Transfer certificate for Intermediate or 10+2
The study certificates are what set local status under Article 371-D: they must show at least four consecutive academic years in Telangana ending with the year the candidate first sat the qualifying exam.
Documents for reserved categories and special quotas
The rest apply only if a candidate is claiming a category or a special quota. On the caste certificate, KNRUHS is strict this year:
- Only a community certificate issued through the online mode by a Telangana Mandal Revenue Officer or competent authority is accepted.
- A backward class candidate must upload a BC-A, BC-B, BC-C, BC-D or BC-E certificate. A Central OBC certificate is not counted for the state quota.
- An SC certificate must state the sub-group, SC Group-I, Group-II or Group-III. A certificate that does not mention the sub-group will not be accepted.
Other conditional documents include the EWS Income and Asset certificate valid for 2026-27, issued by a Telangana Tahsildar on or after 1 April 2026; a minority certificate from the Minority Welfare Officer for a seat in a minority medical college; and the special-quota proofs for NCC, Children of Armed Personnel (CAP), Police Martyrs’ Children (PMC) and the Singareni Collieries (SCCL) quota used for Government Medical College, Ramagundam and the Singareni Institute of Medical Sciences.
Candidates applying under the Persons with Disabilities quota need a valid UDID card and a self-certified affidavit of their functional competencies, in the format at Schedule-I of the National Medical Commission’s interim guidelines dated 19 July 2025. The designated medical board then verifies the affidavit. This replaces the earlier fixed disability-percentage bar.

The application has not opened yet, so the useful step today is to gather and scan every certificate that applies to you, and to fix any gap early, a missing study certificate for one year, a caste certificate without the SC sub-group, or an EWS certificate dated before 1 April 2026.
