The Scheduled Caste (SC) category in Maharashtra has a 13% reservation in government and corporation colleges, and 6.5% in private unaided institutions. This includes Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Caste converts to Buddhism (Neo-Buddhists), as recognized under the Constitution of India. Candidates must produce a Caste Certificate and a Caste Validity Certificate issued by the Caste Scrutiny Committee at the time of document verification. No Non-Creamy Layer Certificate is required for SC candidates. If a candidate fails to produce the Caste Validity Certificate during document verification, they will be treated as an OPEN category candidate (if otherwise eligible). Maharashtra organises reserved categories into three groups for inter-se vacancy filling (merit-based priority within the same group): Group I (SC + ST), Group II (VJA + NTB), and Group III (NTC + NTD + OBC). Vacant SC seats are filled through inter-se merit among Group I candidates.
